Children are full of potential
A Reggio Emilia-inspired school, we believe that children are full of knowledge, potential, and interested in connecting to the world around them. To evoke this sense of wonder, our school’s home is both welcoming and nurturing while also encouraging self expression and curiosity.
Our philosophy is that the image of child is competent and capable, the role of the parent is integral, and collaboration is essential. Children are offered a plethora of possibilities to awaken creativity and spark a sense of beauty. Multiple Intelligences
John Dewey said that children learn through real encounters and experiments. Children at Star America Manhattan gain exposure to rich experiences. You may see them creating buildings and robots, painting self portraits, composing music, and visiting internationally-renowned museums internationally. In agreement with the “Theory of Multiple Intelligences,” we believe that experiences such as these help children develop musically-rhythmically, visually-spatially, verbally-linguistically, logically-mathematically, bodily-kinesthetically, interpersonally, intrapersonally, and naturalistically.
Reggio-Inspired Environment
In every classroom at Star America Manhattan, the “environment is the third teacher.” Environmental choices are made purposefully, assuring that the space is welcoming and clearly organized. With the variety of classroom centers and activities, we assure that the environment is content-rich, providing children a range of opportunities to engage in focused play, conversation, and exploration. Teachers also plan with each child’s interests, skills, and needs in mind, so that the experiences offered balance the need for practice with the need for challenge as children move forward in their physical, social, intellectual, and emotional, development.
